Economic Affairs Consultant on Financing for Disaster Risk in Bangladesh [Thailand]

Adapting the models to be used in estimating direct costs with the DSGE model to the economic structure and functioning of Bangladesh.
Determining the resources for disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation investments, and social assistance allocated for possible disasters in the state budget and/or external resources.
Determining the financial instruments to finance disaster costs, social aids, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation investments.
Collecting related to macroeconomic data and other related data.
GeneralAssisting in the creation of the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium model (DSGE) for Bangladesh and models used to estimate direct costs.
Collecting the necessary data for the models to be used in the DRRFS.
Identifying the risk financing instruments and other financial instruments that can be used in the Bangladesh capital market for disasters that have occurred and may occur.
Overall support for liaising with national institutions, including supporting setting up working meetings and support organizing workshops and consultations.
Key Functions: Adapting the DSGE model and models used for estimating direct costs to the economic structure and functioning of Bangladesh in the preparation of DRRFS document.
Collecting the necessary data for the models to be used in the DRRFS.
Overall support for liaising with national institutions, including supporting setting up working meetings and support organizing workshops and consultations.
The consultant will also provide some of the two-week training on DSGE models to the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministry staff.
Qualifications/special skills - Advanced university degree in economics, business administration or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with a minimum of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.A minimum of five years of relevant experience in economic analysis or public finance is required.
Expert-level knowledge of Bangladesh's economy and public finance is required.
Knowledge of DSGE models is desirable.
Having knowledge of the major schools of economic thought is desirable.
Knowledge of time series or analysis is desirable.
The applicants should be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
LanguagesFluency in English and Bengali is required.
