Senior EU Affairs Advisor [Belgium]

To deliver world-class EU advocacy (including intelligence gathering, planning and advocacy materials) to support a broad range of key Group and OpCo public affairs and public policy campaigns. Have an extensive experience and network/develop relationships with EU decision-makers on priority policy topics, in particular the European Commission (e.g. DG CNECT, DG COMP) the European Parliament (e.g. ITRE, IMCO Committees) and the Council (telecoms, competitiveness). As required, represent Vodafone in associations, think-tanks and industry committees and manage relationship with EU-related consultants.


Work internally with Group (External Affairs, Legal, Strategy etc.) and EU OpCos to identify business priorities, manage risks and opportunities and drive Vodafone interests, policy and public affairs at the EU level.


What you'll do

  • Identify key stakeholders and help build/execute end to end EU Affairs plans ;
  • Deliver world-class, high quality and impactful advocacy independently and arrange/prepare engagements for senior leaders;
  • Input into public affairs, policy and regulatory strategies and communication plans including recommendations for policy and regulatory changes/lobbying approaches;
  • Developing internal briefings & reports including the use of Group digital tools for stakeholder mapping, monitoring and reporting;
  • Contribute to position papers, speeches for external events, in particular providing an ‘outside-in’ perspective;
  • Identifying political, reputational, policy and regulatory risks and opportunities


Who you are

  • Good understanding of EU telecoms/digital/competition policies as well as Economic and Legal principles;
  • Excellent analytical abilities;
  • Excellent communications skills (clearly and effectively communicating complex concepts to a wide range of stakeholders);
  • Outstanding drafting skills (including translating technical or complicated issues into politically appealing messages);
  • Public affairs experience in a network industry or digital/tech sector.
